British enjoy brewing success The students on the current 3 month British Brewing Technology course here at Brewlab took part in a Britain vs American brewing contest.

Both groups brewed a beer that was entered into the Newcastle Beer Festival with the public able to taste both beers and then fill out a form to say which they prefered.

The English team consisted of Jon, Ed, Steve, Nigel and Italian Riccardo. The American team was made up of Ryan B, James, Ryan C, Nik and Canadian Ralph.

The Americans brewed a 4.7% Pale Ale called Redcoat Killer, whilst the British brewed 3.8% ale called Stiff Upper Lip.

A very close contest saw the English team winning by a couple of votes. The winners were awarded gold medals and the runners up silver.
