Full Circle Brew Co.

Full Circle Brewery is based in Hoults Yard, Newcastle. The business was established in 2019 and boasts a 3000 litre brewery along with taproom and venue hire facilities. It has fast become a national and international success story, complimenting a thriving local beer scene and exporting around the world.

Their core range includes Looper, Repeater, Rotator and Hoop with various other seasonal and collaboration brews available in cask, keg and can throughout the year. Amongst many awards the brewery has collected, Looper notably won SIBA’s 2024 Keg IPA of the Year and Rate Beers 7th Best New Brewery in the World 2020

Ben Cleary founded Full Circle Brewery and employed Head Brewer Alex Redpath to guide the project from concept to fully operational brewery. Alex is a graduate of Brewlab having completed the Diploma in British Brewing Technology course in 2018 and he drew upon all the knowledge from the course to design, source and manage installation of the brew house. He’s also the man behind their recipes, developing popular, well balanced, full bodied and full flavoured beers.

Alex recalls “I enrolled at Brewlab to help me take my first steps into the brewing industry, I had homebrew experience but was a novice when it came to anything more.  The Diploma course was intense and rewarding, my cohort had brewers from all over the world, most of whom have gone on to be very successful in the industry.  For me, the most enjoyable side was the recipe development, brewing and placements but I also found the brewery start up and finance modules very important and have referred back to these multiple times since starting the Full Circle Brew Co project.”

Full Circle now use Brewlab for their routine laboratory analysis requirements. They have an annual bespoke due diligence package with us that satisfies various legal requirements and parts of their SALSA quality assurance certification.

Alex states “We use Brewlab for both training and as our external lab service provider to help us with QA and to meet all our SALSA requirements.  They made it very simple, told us what we needed to meet our SALSA accreditation and set up the plan to suit our brewery and product range. From a training point of view, we’ve sent staff for sensory training and practical yeast management.”

Most recently, Alex is now a key contributor to Brewlab training, imparting all the knowledge and experience he has gained to our students. We’re lucky enough to hear about the full Full Circle story, from branding, to set up, to their recipes, every Certificate and Diploma course. A real highlight for many students!
