It was 3rd time lucky for Hogswood Brewing Co., when they won Gold in the Premium Ale category with their latest ale, “Celtic Kernow King”, in only their 3rd year of entering Tuckers Maltings, Newton Abbott, Regional SIBA Beer Festival.

Hogswood, is a small friendly family business that can cater for individual requirements as well as regular orders. It was set up by its sole proprietor Vaughan Haynes to develop his long held passion for real ale into a business.

In the Spring of 2009 Vaughan had attended a Brewlab course which proved to be the catalyst that reaffirmed his ambition to start his own micro brewery. After that Vaughan was hooked, he borrowed money, sold possessions and began to convert his double garage into a Brew house and to make his first pilot rig based on plans from a magazine.

Following initial trials, he started to trade in February 2010. Vaughan gradually built up production and customer base, eventually purchasing a new and bigger Brewhouse in Nov 2010. He has continued to develop new recipes and Hogswood currently produces 5 regular, 2 seasonal and several speciality ales. Plans to bottle Hogswood ale are now well underway.

Vaughan is striving to improve and maintain a quickly growing reputation locally and elsewhere, for producing the highest quality unique hand crafted ales from Cornwall.
