Recent research at Brewlab and the University of Sunderland has retrieved live brewing yeasts from 120 year old bottles of beer to provide detailed information of the microbiology of lost Victorian and Edwardian stock ales.

Brewlab director Dr Keith Thomas and diver Andy Pilley tell the sotry of how the bottles were retrieved and processed.. and a bit about how the recreations tasted!
