Overview
This online course will take you through the raw materials used in the brewing process and how they are made.
Participants will gain an understanding of:
- Types of malts and how they are made, along with a review of specifications.
- Adjunct types and how they are made.
- Hops, including how they are grown, different varieties and different hop types. This session includes some basic hop chemistry.
- Processing aids used in commercial brewing.
The level of teaching will be to the IBD certificate standard, and the session will be approximately 3 to 4 hours with plenty of opportunity to ask questions to an experienced commercial brewer.
At the end of the course attendees will have a better understanding of where basic raw materials for craft brewing come from for and how they are made.
