Craft Brew Raw Materials


Online Course


This online course will take you through the raw materials used in the brewing process and how they are made.

Participants will gain an understanding of:

  • Types of malts and how they are made, along with a review of specifications.
  • Adjunct types and how they are made.
  • Hops, including how they are grown, different varieties and different hop types. This session includes some basic hop chemistry.
  • Processing aids used in commercial brewing.

The level of teaching will be to the IBD certificate standard, and the session will be approximately 3 to 4 hours with plenty of opportunity to ask questions to an experienced commercial brewer.

At the end of the course attendees will have a better understanding of where basic raw materials for craft brewing come from for and how they are made.
