After studying chemistry at Aberdeen Uni, I decided to follow my passion rather than head off to oil and gas. I had been a hobby brewer for quite a few years, and I knew I did not have the knowledge to go pro with brewing. That’s when I found Brewlab. I did the 3 week course, and that was enough to learn where I had been going wrong with my brewing consistency. Arthur and the team at Brewlab are not only extremely knowledgeable and experienced, they are also a supportive family that have been willing to help, even after I had completed the course.

Since then (2012), I have opened Speyside Brewery in NE Scotland. We have been selling our beers accross Scotland, and have even done a colab with Glenfiddich Distillery with their IPA expression, which is still being sold to this day!

Without Brewlab, I would have certainly made a few (more!) mistakes. We now have another Brewlab alumni in charge of the kit!

I can’t recommend the course enough. Even if you are an experienced home brewer that is planning to go pro, you will learn a lot. During the course, I didn’t only learn the science of brewing, I also learned about the industry as a whole by visiting various breweries and raw material businesses.
